Monica Vitti (born Maria Luisa Ceciarelli 3 November 1931 in Rome) is an Italian actress noted for her frosty expressiveness and starring roles within films by Michelangelo Antonioni.
Training and early career
When the stripling she acted inside amateur productions, so trained as an actor at Rome's National Academy of Dramatic Arts & at Pitman's, around which she played the teenager in the charity performance of Niccodemi's La Nemica. She toured Germany sustaining an Italian acting company & her number 1 stage appearance around Rome was for the production of Macchiavelli's La Mandragora. Vitti's foremost film role was within Ettore Scola's Ridere Ridere Ridere (1954). Her merely Hollywood effort was Modesty Blaise'', a mod James Bond spoof with Terence Stamp (1966) which was the critical & commercial disappointment & involved a like notorious musical total.
Later career
Vitti's within the future pic appearances stand mostly been in Italian films forgoing international distribution. Notable exceptions include Luis Brunel's Fantôme de la liberté (1974). Around 1980 she was reunited by having Antonioni when Fifteen years around his A Mystery of Oberwald. Inside 1989 she wrote, directed & starred around Scandalo Segreto. Her image late appeared in an Italian postage stamp commemorating ''50'avvenutra. Inside 1993 Vitti was awarded a Festival Tribute'' at a Créteil International Women's Film Festival inside France. She married Roberto Russo inside 1995.
